A stunning transformation, Revitalized and reimagined

The Carew Tower is a leading example of Art Deco architecture.  Constructed between 1929 and 1931 for a then-price of $33 million, the original concept was a development that would include a department store, a theater, an office accommodation, and a hotel to rival the Waldorf-Astoria.  The building is widely considered to be an early prototype of an urban mixed-use development, a "city within a city".


The building was home to a mixed group of tenants, including a shopping arcade and offices.  Many guests visited the 49th Floor's Observation Deck over the years.  Carew Tower was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1994.


Standing over the city for 95 years, the current owner is converting the former office space into 385 luxury apartments and 106k sq ft of commercial space.
